🌴🌾 Dates & Millet Porridge (7 Months +)
Ingredients (1–2 baby portions)
-
2 tablespoons Dr. Annie Brown Rice & Millet Cereal (or plain millet flour)
-
1–2 soft dates, pitted (Medjool dates work best)
-
¾ cup water
-
Optional: 1–2 tablespoons breastmilk/formula (add after cooking)
Preparation Steps
1. Prepare the Dates
-
Pit the dates and chop finely.
-
If the skin is tough, soak them in warm water for 5 minutes to soften.
2. Start the Millet Base
-
In a small saucepan, mix millet flour (or cereal) with a little cold water to make a smooth paste (this prevents lumps).
3. Cook with Dates
-
Add remaining water and chopped dates to the pan.
-
Bring to a gentle boil, stirring continuously.
4. Simmer Until Thick & Soft
-
Cook over low heat for 5–7 minutes (or according to cereal instructions) until smooth and creamy.
5. Adjust Texture
-
Blend for extra smoothness (optional) or leave slightly textured for Stage 2 weaning.
-
Stir in breastmilk or formula once cooled slightly for added creaminess and nutrition.
Storage
-
Serve fresh or refrigerate for up to 24 hours in an airtight container.
-
Freeze in baby meal cubes for up to 1 month.
