🥕🌴 Carrot & Dates Porridge (7 Months +)

Ingredients (1–2 baby portions)

  • 2 tablespoons rolled oats (or soft baby oats)

  • 1 small carrot, peeled and chopped

  • 1–2 soft dates, pitted (Medjool dates are best)

  • ¾ cup water or breastmilk/formula (for cooking use water, then add milk after cooking)


Preparation Steps

1. Prepare the Carrot & Dates

  • Peel and chop carrot into small pieces.

  • Pit the dates and chop into small pieces. (If the skin is tough, soak in warm water for 5 minutes before chopping.)

2. Cook Until Soft

  • In a small saucepan, add carrot, dates, and water.

  • Simmer over medium heat for 8–10 minutes until carrot is very soft.

3. Add Oats

  • Stir in oats and cook for another 5 minutes until oats are soft and the mixture thickens.

4. Blend or Mash

  • For a smooth puree: blend the mixture with a hand blender or regular blender.

  • For a slightly textured porridge: mash well with a fork.

5. Adjust Consistency

  • Add a little warm breastmilk or formula after cooking to loosen texture and boost nutrition.


Storage

  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

  • Can be frozen in ice cube trays for up to 1 month.
