2 tablespoons lean beef mince (or finely chopped lean beef)
-
2 tablespoons rolled oats (quick-cooking oats are best)
-
1 small carrot, peeled and chopped
-
1 small potato, peeled and chopped
-
1 teaspoon Dr. Annie Beef Powder (optional, for extra iron)
-
1 teaspoon onion, finely grated (optional, for flavor)
-
1 cup water or low-sodium homemade beef/vegetable stock
-
½ teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional, for digestion)
Preparation Steps
1. Cook the Beef
-
In a small saucepan, add the beef mince with 2–3 tablespoons of water.
-
Cook over low heat until the beef turns brown, breaking it up into fine pieces.
2. Add Vegetables
-
Add the chopped carrot, potato, and ginger (if using) to the pot.
-
Pour in the rest of the water/stock and bring to a gentle boil.
3. Simmer Until Soft
-
Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes until all vegetables are very soft and beef is fully cooked.
4. Add Oats
-
Stir in oats and cook for another 5 minutes until the oats are soft and the soup thickens slightly.
5. Blend to Baby-Friendly Texture
-
Use a hand blender or regular blender to purée until smooth (for early weaning) or leave slightly textured (if baby is already used to some texture).
