🌾πŸ₯• Millet & Oats Porridge (8 Months+)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp millet (washed, soaked 2–3 hrs if possible for easier cooking)

  • 2 tbsp oats (quick or rolled oats)

  • 1 small carrot (peeled, grated or finely diced)

  • 1 cup water / low-sodium vegetable stock / breastmilk or formula (to adjust thickness)

  • 1 tsp olive oil or unsalted butter (optional, for extra calories)


Instructions

  1. Cook millet

    • Place millet in a small saucepan with Β½ cup water.

    • Cook on low for 15–20 minutes until soft.

  2. Add carrot & oats

    • Stir in carrot and oats. Add more water (or milk/stock) as needed.

    • Simmer another 7–10 minutes until oats are soft and mixture thickens.

  3. Mash or blend

    • For 8–9 months β†’ blend or mash into a smooth creamy porridge.

    • For 10–12 months β†’ leave thicker with soft lumps for chewing practice.

  4. Finish

    • Stir in olive oil or butter before serving (optional).

    • Can also be sweetened naturally with a little mashed banana or date puree if desired.
