Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp groundnut paste (unsweetened, unsalted peanut paste)

  • 1 small tomato (peeled, deseeded, chopped)

  • 1 small carrot (peeled, diced – optional for extra sweetness)

  • 1–2 tbsp onion (very finely chopped – optional for toddlers)

  • Β½ cup low-sodium chicken/vegetable stock or water

  • 1 tsp olive oil or unsalted butter


Instructions

  1. Cook base

    • Heat oil in a small pot. Add onion and tomato, sautΓ© until soft.

    • Add carrot and stir for 2–3 minutes.

  2. Add liquid & simmer

    • Pour in stock/water. Simmer until carrot (if used) is very soft.

  3. Stir in groundnut paste

    • Add groundnut paste, stir until fully dissolved into the soup.

    • Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes (avoid burning).

  4. Adjust texture

    • For 8–9 months β†’ blend smooth into a creamy soup.

    • For 10–12 months β†’ mash lightly and serve as a thick sauce with soft yam, rice, or millet porridge.
