🍌🥚 Plantain & Egg Mash (7 Months +)

Ingredients (1–2 baby portions)

  • ½ ripe plantain (yellow with a few black spots, for natural sweetness)

  • 1 egg yolk (egg white can be introduced after 12 months or earlier if no allergy risk)

  • ¾ cup water

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil or unsalted butter

Preparation Steps

1. Cook the Plantain

  • Peel and slice the plantain.

  • Add to a small saucepan with water and simmer for 8–10 minutes until very soft.

2. Boil the Egg

  • In a separate pot, boil the egg for 8–10 minutes until hard-boiled.

  • Peel and separate the yolk from the white (discard white for now if avoiding).

3. Mash Together

  • Mash the plantain and egg yolk together until smooth.

  • Add olive oil or butter for extra creaminess.

  • For Stage 1 weaning, blend to a fine puree; for Stage 2, mash lightly to leave small soft pieces.

4. Serve Warm

  • Ensure it’s at a safe feeding temperature before serving.

  • Best served immediately.

  • Can be refrigerated for up to 12 hours; stir and reheat gently before serving.
