🥕🍠 Carrot & Yam Sauce (8 Months+)
Ingredients

½ cup yam (peeled, diced into small cubes)

1 medium carrot (peeled, diced)

1 small tomato (peeled, deseeded, chopped — optional)

1 tsp olive oil or unsalted butter

½ cup water or low-sodium vegetable/chicken stock
Instructions

Cook base

Heat olive oil in a small saucepan.

Add diced carrots (and tomato if using). Sauté 2–3 minutes to soften and release flavor.

Add yam & liquid

Add yam cubes and pour in water/stock.

Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes until yam and carrot are very soft.

Adjust texture

At 8–10 months → mash into a thick sauce with some small lumps.

At 10–12 months → cut yam and carrot into soft finger-sized pieces, then spoon sauce over as a chunky stew.

Serve warm

Can be eaten as is or mixed with a little mashed fish, chicken, or beef for added protein.
