🥚🫘 Egg & Beans Finger Food (7 Months +)
Ingredients (Makes 6–8 small pieces)
-
1 egg yolk (add egg white after 12 months or earlier if no allergy risk)
-
2 tablespoons soft-cooked beans (such as black-eyed beans or butter beans, well-cooked until very soft)
-
2 tablespoons rolled oats (ground into oat flour)
-
1 teaspoon olive oil or vegetable oil
-
Optional: a pinch of mild herbs like parsley for flavor
Preparation Steps
1. Prepare the Beans
-
Ensure beans are very soft — boil if necessary until they mash easily between fingers.
-
Mash them well with a fork or blend briefly for a smoother texture.
2. Mix Ingredients
-
In a bowl, combine mashed beans, egg yolk, oat flour, and olive oil.
-
Mix until you have a soft, slightly sticky dough.
3. Shape
-
With clean, damp hands, shape into small oval or finger-shaped pieces about 5–6 cm long.
4. Cook Gently
-
Place in a non-stick pan over low heat and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until firm and cooked through.
(Alternatively, bake on a parchment-lined tray at 180°C / 350°F for 8–10 minutes.)
5. Cool & Serve
-
Let them cool slightly before giving to your baby. They should be soft enough to mash easily with gums.
Storage
-
Refrigerate for up to 2 days.
-
Freeze uncooked pieces for up to 1 month; cook from frozen, adding 1–2 extra minutes.
